BWD Weekly Recap 7/8/26

Weekly Overview
Last week was... mediocre.
Not terrible. Not great. Just one of those weeks where life felt full...from the moment my feet hit the floor until my head hit the pillow.
Both boys are in travel baseball, business is busier than it's ever been, and it seems like every evening is spoken for. I found myself asking, "Where does the time go?"
If you're a dad reading this, I'm guessing you understand. Between work, practices, games, mowing the yard, fixing things around the house, and trying to be present for your family, free time feels like a luxury.
But I'm learning that maybe the goal isn't to find more free time. Maybe it's to be more intentional with the time we already have.

Around Home
Baseball has taken over our calendar, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Well maybe wrestling would be better lol
Watching the boys compete, learn, and grow has been one of my favorite parts of being a dad. The schedule is exhausting, but I know these days won't last forever. One day the fields will be quiet, and I'll wish I had one more game to watch. My daughter, the boys big sister, has been a Godsend at the games entertaining the younger siblings of their teammates. She’s only 13 but seeing her take care of the little guys reminds me of how I use to hang out with her – you know back when it was cool to give your dad a hug, certainly not at 13 though lol
My wife and I have been burning the candle at both ends so to spend some time together we are heading to a sawmill today. Our construction company is hoping to partner with them to supply some finished products for us. Not the most ideal date but hey, its time together and business is still moving.

Around Work
Work has been a blessing.
We're seeing incredible growth, signing new projects, and building some amazing homes & additions for incredible clients. It's exciting, but growth also comes with responsibility. Every new client, employee, and project is another opportunity to show the love of Jesus and I certainly don’t get it right all the time. With the long hours and time commitments being self-employed comes with, I'm constantly reminding myself that success in business isn't worth much if it costs me my family, so I will not be allowing that to happen!

📚 Reading(audiobooks): The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer – I’ve listened to this book multiple times and love it!
🙏 Praying For: More presence. Less distraction. Being present when present.
🎯 Working On: Putting my phone down when I walk through the front door & I am failing miserably at this!

Questions From My Kids This Week
Both boys are constantly asking if I think they will make the travel baseball team for next year.
It’s been fun to mess with them on this but even cooler to witness their desire to earn a spot. I always say effort and attitude are the 2 most important things on the field! Not any brain busting questions this week but this is here for those times when they are.

Verse I'm Holding Onto
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23
This verse reminded me that whether I'm in a construction meeting, coaching baseball, or helping with bedtime, my audience is ultimately God.
Faithfulness matters more than perfection.

This week, don't worry about being a perfect dad.
Just be present.
Your kids won't remember every project you finished or every overtime hour you worked.
They'll remember that you showed up.

Father, I come to you so grateful! I am listening to Mercy We Don’t Deserve by Zack Shelton and boy is it hitting home! Lord I lift my brother Waymond to you as he continues to work on his book and Lord I pray for all the Dads punching in and out, working their tails off to provide for their family and STILL seeking you, still working to be a better husband and father. I know the work isn’t easy but Lord, you are so worth it. Thank you for loving us and for the mercy we don’t deserve. In Jesus name, Amen.
